Barbara Ann Corcoran

 Barbara Ann Corcoran, born on March 10, 1949, is an American businesswoman and investor. She is also a lecturer as a consultant, columnist syndicated, speaker writer, author and television show host. The Corcoran Group was a New York City real estate brokerage that she founded. NRT purchased it for $66million in 2001. Corcoran eventually left the company. Corcoran was among the first Shark Tank investors. She has appeared on every season of ABC's Shark Tank. Corcoran has signed 53 deals in February, 2020. Her biggest deal was her investment of $350,000 in Coverplay with a 40% stake. Corcoran was born in Edgewater, New Jersey, the second child of 10 from a working class Irish Catholic family. Florence, Corcoran's mother, was a homemaker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was her father. He was a mover between jobs and another throughout Corcoran's early years. Her family was sometimes dependent on food delivered by a friendly local grocer for free food. Corcoran states that her father was a drunk who treated her mother with disrespectful and disrespect. Corcoran was a struggling student in school. Later, she discovered she had dyslexia. She was a student at the local Catholic elementary school before beginning the high school system at St. Cecilia High School in Englewood. After flunking several courses during her first year, Corcoran transferred to Leonia High School in Leonia, where she graduated as a D student.
